Moving Advice

Here are a few things to consider before your move :

Packing and Unpacking

If doing your own packing be sure to use strong cartons that are not overfilled.
If you need cartons or other packing materials, please contact us as we hold these in stock at very favourable prices.

Dismantle any furniture and take down all curtains, fixtures and fittings prior to the arrival of your moving team. Cookers, washing machines, fridges, freezers should be disconnected, cleaned, drained and dried prior to the arrival of your moving team.

Packing Tips

Label your cartons clearly, marking on them which rooms they need to go in rather than where they’re from and use sensibly sized cartons which won’t be too heavy to carry – use heavy duty parcel tape to seal them.

Be sure not to overload cartons and where possible tape the lid flat. If you are packing breakable items, please mark the carton ‘Fragile’ and ‘This Way Up’.

Should you be uncertain about packing yourself why not let us do it for you. We are happy to provide a free, no obligation quotation. This solution will reduce the risk of damage and relieves you of another big job during this busy time.

Vehicle Access

Access to and from the doorway and from the road outside of your property is critical for our vehicles.

Please explain to neighbours in advance that a large removal vehicle will be parked outside your home and prepare them for any inconvenience. This also applies to the delivery address, please provide us with as much information as possible.

All items in attics, lofts, garages, sheds and outbuildings, should be packed and ready to move unless otherwise agreed that it’s part of the quotation.

On the Day of Removal

Make the day as stress-free as possible by asking someone to look after young children for the day. Make sure the gas, electricity and water meters are read before you leave and that you have made arrangements for broadband and phonelines to be transferred.

If you have pets, plan in advance how you intend transport them. Make sure that your removal crew has clear directions to your new property and a mobile telephone number where you can be contacted. Agree an approximate time of arrival.

Before the removal lorry leaves check that nothing has been forgotten and ensure that nothing is moved that should be staying behind.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us via
telephone or e-mail as detailed on our contact page.
